Meet Ahmed Tazief: Your partner in conflict resolution
Discover the journey and philosophy behind AhmedTazief, where over a decade of human rights and conflict resolution experience is applied to create lasting peace and understanding.

My journey to mediation
My path to mediation began with over 11 years in human rights, working with the United Nations and international NGOs. I witnessed firsthand how peace agreements often failed to restore trust between individuals and communities. It became clear that laws alone could not heal relational wounds.
Mediation emerged as the vital missing link—a space where parties can reclaim their narratives, be truly heard, and collaboratively create lasting solutions. What fuels my passion today is that transformative moment in every mediation when a party, finally listened to, says: "I never saw it that way." That is when barriers crumble, and true understanding begins.
I view conflicts not as failures, but as powerful opportunities for growth and profound healing.

My unique mediation style
My mediation style is deeply rooted in 11 years of UN human rights experience and adheres to the professional standards of the ADR Institute of Canada (ADRIC), where I am a Full Member. It is distinguished by three core pillars:
- Human Rights and Safeguarding (PSEA) Approach: I actively identify and rebalance invisible power dynamics, ensuring processes align with ADRIC's principles of independence and impartiality.
- Trauma-Informed Practice: I adapt the pace and language to suit each participant, always prioritizing psychological safety throughout the mediation.
- Cultural Intelligence: Being bilingual in French and English, I can effectively translate not just words, but also emotions and silences, fostering deeper understanding across cultures.
To ensure everyone feels heard and respected, I employ active listening, establish clear ground rules, and welcome emotions as essential keys to reconciliation. I firmly uphold the principle of self-determination, ensuring that decision-making authority rests with the parties themselves, not the mediator. I believe that justice is measured not only by the outcome but by the dignity with which each party has been treated.

Who I help and what I solve
I work with a diverse range of clients, offering tailored solutions to complex conflicts:
- Individuals: I provide a safe and confidential space for resolving issues such as separation, family disputes, neighbourhood conflicts, and workplace tensions, helping you find lasting solutions.
- Organizations (businesses, NGOs, institutions): I assist with internal conflicts, harassment claims, and safeguarding (PSEA) compliance, working to prevent and resolve conflicts at their root and foster healthier environments.
- Humanitarian and Development Agencies: I facilitate complex dialogues in sensitive settings, addressing intercommunity tensions, project blockages, and ethical dilemmas, integrating human rights and trauma-informed approaches to ensure effective and respectful outcomes.
My goal is to address the biggest challenges my clients face by creating understanding and empowering them to find their own solutions.
"Ahmed Tazief’s approach to mediation is truly transformative. He created an environment where everyone felt not just heard, but deeply understood, leading to a resolution that felt genuinely fair and sustainable for all."
